G’day!
33-year-old Czech, Barbora Strycova, is hitting her prime.
Last year at Wimbledon, she reached the semi-finals. Her career-high singles ranking of No. 16 came in 2017, and she just finished 2019 on the No. 1 doubles team in the world along with Su-Wei Hsieh. Round of applause, please! đź‘Źđź‘Ź
I interviewed Barbora on The Wimbledon Channel in 2018, and it was such a fun interview. We had a great time talking about net strategy and her impressive prowess serving and volleying. In the interview, we watch several of her points and pause them mid-point to discuss her strategy. We also cover:
- The three things we have in common!
- Barabara won 11/15 serving and volleying in two matches.
- Barbara gives us a volley technique lesson.
Why does Barbara like to serve and volley? What’s the advantage she gets? What’s her strategy to be so successful? Where does she serve? Watch the eight-minute lesson below to find out!
In my first tennis strategy course, The 25 Golden Rules of Singles Strategy, one of the rules (#4) is all about Serve & Volley. You can get a lot more info on serving and volleying there.
